Camron Sharod Burton, of Ocala, Florida, was arrested on Wednesday, April 10, when officers with the Eastchester Police Department were conducting a routine safety checkpoint on Labelle Road and spotted the weapons.

According to police, while officers were checking the box truck to ensure it had no equipment violations and proper registration and inspection, Burton asked for directions, as he was lost. While speaking with the officers, they spotted the rifle and a 9mm handgun.

Police said that Burton stated he had a permit for the weapons in Florida, though the guns and several high-capacity ammo magazines are illegal in New York.

According to reports, Burton has a lengthy rap sheet, with several arrests for various charges throughout Florida.

Burton, 26, was arrested and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies. Following his arraignment in Eastchester Town Court, Burton was remanded to the Westchester County Jail without bail. He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday, April 17 to respond to the charges.
